Freshman
Pinckney 32 | Milford 26
Milford came out and scored on the first play! Jasson Ventura ran over 65 yards to the endzone to put the Mavs up 6-0. Pinckney came back and marched down field to take a 7-6 lead. Aided by big plays on offense and a blocked punt by Michael Salchert and Tommy Litteral the Mavs hung in with the battleship offense of Pinckney to a 20-20 tie at halftime.
The second half started out great as Milford forced Pinckney to punt, which was blocked by Jack Bartoluzzi and went down to score to take a 26-20 lead. David Onofrio and Cameron Bell connected on a few plays to help put the ball in the endzone. From here untimely penalties throughout the game cost the Mavs a chance for a victory.
A late rally started by a huge 4th down catch by Jason Hugan stalled inside the redzone as the Mavs were intercepted to end the game. Next weeks opponent is yet to be determined and will require the Freshman to be on the road at 4:30pm Thursday.

Freshman
Brighton 20 | Milford 19
The Mavs dug themselves an early hole by being down 14-0 after the first quarter. From there they regrouped and put drives together the rest of the half and only trailing by one point, 14-13 at halftime.
The 3rd quarter started the same way the 2nd quarter went with Milford scoring on the first possession of the 2nd half to take a 19-14 lead. Scoring 19 unanswered points sparked the boys offensively and defensively, led by the play of Zach Bellar and David Onofrio on defense and Cameron Bell and Tyler Lucas on offense.
The come-from-behind victory slipped through their fingers as Brighton scored on a long touchdown run towards the end of the 4th quarter.
The team is starting to gel more and more each week and will need to continue to get better in order to beat Howell next week. Game time is 4:30 pm at Howell High School.

Freshman
Hartland 40 | Milford 18
The game started with a bang for the Mavericks as the kickoff team pinned Hartland down on their own 3 yardline with a great kick from David Onofrio. Milford showed great effort on defense to force them to punt from their endzone, where Jack Bartoluzzi blocked the punt and recovered the ball for a Milford touchdown! Hartland quickly answered on their next possession when they caught the Mavs missed aligned with only 10 players on the field.
The Mavs took the kickoff back with great field position and proceeded to march down field led by Cameron Bell, Tyler Lucas, Koss Allen, and Jasson Ventura. Unfortunately the drive stalled on 4th and goal and Milford had to turn the ball over to the Eagles. Hartland used that momentum to create big plays and go down to score to take a 14-6 lead. From here the Mavs let the game slip away with big plays by the Eagles. Milford did not give up as they kept working hard with great effort to overcome a 19 point halftime deficit.
Again, the Mavs came out with great energy to start the second half and marched down to score. Key plays offensively and defensively by Ventura, Bartoluzzi, Lucas, and Zack Hodges kept breathing life into the Mavs. Unfortunately the courageous effort by the Mavs was not enough against the undefeated Hartland Eagles. Milford is now 2-2 and will face the Bulldogs of Brighton next Thursday at 4:30pm. |

Freshman
Grand Blanc 29 | Milford 2
The Mavs suffered their first loss of the season to a talented Grand Blanc squad. Milford took charge of the game for the first quarter and a half, but a couple of big plays by the Bobcats were too much for the Freshman to overcome. After a great punt by Jasson Ventura to pin Grand Blanc deep on their own 3 yard line, the defense stepped to tackle the back in the endzone for a 2 point safety. Zach Babin led the defensive effort with good open field tackling and pass break ups. Offensively the Mavs struggled to sustain drives due pressure from the defense and putting the ball on the carpet more than 4 times. Milford will get ready to rebound against Hartland next week. Game time at 4:30.

Freshman
Milford 21 | Wayne 8
The home opener did not start out great for the Mavs as Wayne took the first play 65 yards for a touchdown. After that play the defense held Wayne scoreless the rest of the way. Led by Logan Ryan, Cameron Bell, and David Onofrio the Zebras did not get in the red zone the rest of the night. Offensively, Bell and Ventura were able to find big holes in the defense. Tyler Lucas and Alex Butkovich led the oline with great effort in the 2nd half. The Mavs travel to Grand Blanc Thursday for their first divisional game. Game time is 4:30pm. |
